Bernard T. Schneider

July 13, 1946 - May 9, 2020

Bernard T. Schneider, age 73 of Batesville, died Saturday, May 9, 2020 at his home. Born July 13, 1946 in Morris, he is the son of Helen (Nee: Stock) and Henry Schneider. Bernard served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 6 years as an Airman Electrician, being honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent. He went on to work as an industrial maintenance electrician for 44 years with Bohn/ABM Bearing in Greensburg. Bernie loved his fruit trees, raising a garden as well as growing English and Black Walnuts, which gave him something to do after retirement. He enjoyed his honeybees, hunting, fishing and tinkering (having built his own walnut crackers). Bernie was also an avid reader. You would often hear him say: “Make smart decision today and have a bright future.” Bernie was also a longtime member of St. Louis Parish. He is survived by his daughters Carol (Brian) Kuntz, Lisa Schneider, both of Batesville, Nancy (Fred) Herman of West Chester, OH; sons Thomas Schneider of Scottsdale, Arizona and Mark (Sarah) Schneider of Shelbyville, Indiana; sisters Rita Struewing of Oldenburg, Ruth Messerschmidt of Morris, Frances Hartman of Greendale, Indiana, Theresa Eckerle of Morris, Rose Roell of Connersville, Indiana; brothers Albert Schneider of Morris, Arthur Schneider of Batesville, Joseph Schneider of Sunman and 6 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Schneider, Marie Dierckman and brother Wilbert Schneider. Due to the Governor’s current mandate of gatherings being limited to 25 people, a private graveside service will be held Wednesday at St. Louis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research and sent to the funeral home in care of the family. You are encouraged to go to www.weigelfh.com and on Bernie’s obituary page leave a message for the family or use the link on our home page to send a “Hugs from Home.”
