Edgar D. Suhre

Edgar D. Suhre, age 89 of Batesville, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Margaret Mary Hospital. Born July 10, 1921 in Oldenburg, he is the son of Anna (Nee: Raver) and Henry Suhre. He married Mary Jane Court on September 29, 1945 at St. Augustine Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana with his brother Rev. Roger Huser O.F.M. officiating. He was a member of St. Louis Church in Batesville, St. John the Evangelist Church in Naples, Florida and was also a member of the Retired Brick Layers Union.Edgar graduated from Batesville High in 1939. For six years he worked as a type setter for the Batesville Herald Tribune and then eventually spent over thirty five years as brick mason. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, sons and daughter-in-laws Roger and Carol Suhre, David and Patty Suhre, all of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law Betty Suhre of Avon, Indiana; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son Larry; sister Edith Weigel and brother Rev. Roger Huser.Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
