Marysue Knisley

July 18, 1980 - March 6, 2022

Marysue Knisley (née Luhring), originally of Batesville, Indiana, left this world too soon on March 6, 2022, with her husband and soulmate, Jim Knisley. Marysue was a mother and best friend to Kirstin “Kira” Krause; a devoted daughter to Joe and Judy Luhring (née Abplanalp); sister to Joe (Sarah) Luhring; aunt to Kiefer and Bea; dear friend to Jim’s children, Jason (Kati) Knisley, Stephanie Holzback, Nicole (Robert) Dunn, and Melissa Knisley; and “GrammySue” to Haylee, Isaiah, Adelyn, Isaac, Jackson, Colin, Leo, and Connor. A 1998 graduate of Oldenburg Academy, she continued her education earning her many credentials - RN, BSN, MBA, MSN, CLNC. Marysue built her career as a nurse, clinical operations manager, and finally as a medical compliance consultant; which all can be a testament to her unending determination and drive. Marysue had a passion for learning and constantly pushed herself to the next level. She gave 200% to each company she worked for and left a legacy of inspiration to countless nurses, physicians, coworkers, family members, and friends, whose lives and careers continue to be shaped by her leadership and mentorship. Caring, generous, and open-hearted, she was able to connect and relate with everyone she met, was an exceptional listener and always gave a shoulder to lean on. Marysue had a zest for life that included a love for travel, cheering on her favorite sports teams (Cubs and Blackhawks), and spending time at the track with Jim. She was living out her dream in Fort Myers, Florida, where she and Jim did the things they loved most: sharing their world with a stream of family and friends, exploring sunny roads on their Harley, and searching for that next perfect shell along the shores of Sanibel Island or Fort Myers beach. All will remember her warm smile, thoughtfulness, and strong commitment and love for her family and friends. A co-worker once said “Marysue reminded me of that saying that reads “stay close to the people that feel like sunshine. Marysue felt like sunshine and always was a bright spot in my day.” This shows the overall character and big personality that she had. Her wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 17th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Following visitation on Thursday, please join the family at the Sherman for a celebration of Jim and Marysue’s lives. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 18th at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital or Daughters of Isabella.
