Shirley J. Werner
February 13, 1950 - February 13, 2015
Shirley J. Werner, age 65 of Batesville, died February 13, 2015 at her residence. Born June 22, 1949 in Indianapolis, she is the daughter of Betty (Nee: Wickens) and Harold Banks. See worked at the Hill-Rom Company several years as an assembler. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Chris McCarren of Roswell, Georgia and grandsons Sebastian, Harrison and Jameson McCarren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Paul "David" Banks. According to her daughter, Shirley's greatest legacy is the gift of values she shared with friends and family. Those include patience, kindness, generosity, compassion, unconditional love, putting others first, the ability to see through a child's eyes and seeing and appreciating all the beautiful things around us. Simple pleasures, like birds chirping in the morning, a beautiful flowering tree or a sunset. These are the things she would encourage others to slow down and take time to appreciate. Jennifer also spoke of what an exceptional mother Shirley was and "To become half the mother she was would be a considerable accomplishment." Shirley's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11th, at The New Point Christian Church with Pastor Mark Vice officiating. Following services, the family would like to invite everyone to stay for a luncheon, visit with the family and to share their favorite memories. The family requests memorials to People Assisting Animals In Need (PAAIN).
