William E. Wespiser

December 2, 1917 - December 2, 2010

William E. Wespiser, age 93 of Batesville, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born December 17, 1916 in Oxford, Ohio, he is the son of Bertha (Nee: Halter) and Joseph Wespiser. He married Monique Bourbeau in Toronto, Canada in 1939 and she preceded him in death in 1982. Bill was a general contractor and owned Wespiser Construction Company for 35 years. He later served 13 years as a consultant for the Hill-Rom Company before retiring in 1984. Bill was adventurous, athletic and without a doubt an avid outdoorsman. During his lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing on a regular basis. He was just as happy to be on the water skiing, boating or canoeing. He also liked snow skiing and still went horseback riding up until a couple of years ago. Bill was most definitely a world traveler. He’s seen all of Europe, France, Ireland, England, Australia, most of the Asian countries and parts of South America. The only continents he didn’t visit were Antarctica and Africa, although he had hoped to take a safari there one day. His family recalled that a trip to Thailand was among his favorites. While Fox News kept his abreast of current events, “All In The Family” was his favorite show. Bill’s most treasured time was spent with his son’s and grandchildren, usually enjoying an outdoor activity. He is survived by his sons Thomas (Jan) and Michael, both of Batesville; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Margaret Boudoin, Mary Merleau and brothers Joseph and John Wespiser. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 18th at St. John’s Church in Enochsburg. His ashes will be buried in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Everyone’s Child International (www.everyoneschild.org).
