Norma J. McNabb

Norma J. McNabb, age 75 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville after battling cancer. Born April 18, 1949, in Batesville, she is the daughter of Andrew and Emma (Nee: Browning) Gilbert. She married Robert McNabb on July 3, 1971, at the Batesville Baptist Church in Batesville. Norma worked in customer service for U.S. Cellular, before retiring. Norma acted as a foster and adoptive mom and Nana. She loved playing online games and visiting the casino. She loved all various types of music. She loved homestyle meals, especially chicken livers from Wagner’s. Spending time with her family was very important. She loved visiting zoos and children’s museums with the grandbabies and then great grandbabies. She loved family gatherings and potluck dinners. This is exactly why we are holding a potluck celebration of life in her honor. She is survived by her husband Robert of Batesville; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Suzy McNabb of Manchester, Tennessee and daughter and son-in-law Janet and Aaron Choplick of Batesville; brothers James Gilbert of Sunman, Indiana, Ron Gilbert of Peppertown, Indiana, John (Maria) Gilbert of Batesville and Toby Gilbert of Peppertown; grandchildren Ryan Choplick of Des Moines, Iowa, Samantha Counts-Choplick of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, Laura Choplick of Des Moines, Iowa, Christian Counts-Choplick of Batesville, and Cynthia Logan of Hilksboro, Oregon; great grandchildren Dean Swain of and Jackson Swain, both of Michigan, Everest See, Leon Maslen, and Luna Maslen, all of Oregon; nieces and nephews Andrea (Stuart) Flannery, Julie (Joost) Vijverberg, Hope Gilbert, Kenya Gilbert, and Toby Gilbert Jr. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Edna Gilbert and grandparents Leander and Nanny Browning and James and Mary Gilbert. A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 15th, from 1 - 5 p.m., at the Liberty Park Shelter #6 in Batesville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Cancer Fund (formerly Hansen Oncology Center) or the Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research Project.
