Albert J. Arcaro's Obituary
Albert J. Arcaro, age 88 of Metamora, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Margaret Mary Health. Born December 22, 1925 in Swissville, Pennsylvania, he is the son of Clara (Nee: Carlucci) and Harry Arcaro. He married Carol Ankrum March 1, 1967 in New Port, Kentucky. Albert served in the Army during World War II, becoming a paratrooper and making 46 jumps. After the service, he started his own construction and home building business, retiring in 1987.
His family described him as hard working and able to make anything out of wood. Although he enjoyed construction and built many homes over the years, his true passion was horses. He was an owner and trainer of thoroughbreds for as long as his family can remember. Albert also liked a good poker game
He is survived by his wife Carol; son John Arcaro of Metamora, daughter Donna Jarrett of Cincinnati; two grandchildren; six sisters and three brothers. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation is Monday, April 7th, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. followed by military rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department.
