Albert L. Schene's Obituary
Albert L. Schene, age 58, died Monday, January 30, 2012, at The Waters of Batesville. Born April 19, 1953 in Batesville, he is the son of Mildred (Nee: Goldsmith) and Alvin Schene. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and after the service became an automotive mechanic for the Naval Warfare Avionics Center in Indianapolis. Bert loved food. He especially loved BBQ, beer can chicken and garlic……lots of garlic. His sons said, “dad liked to tinker with things” which probably was the mechanic in him. They also indicated he had a passion for dogs, golfing, old cars, and watching Bonanza. He was also very proud of his military service and was a member of the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. He is survived by sons Duke of Osgood, Indiana, Aaron of Greenwood, Indiana, Nick of Batesville; sisters Karen Cox of New Palestine, Indiana, Barbara Hendrix of Batesville, Bernadette Nunlist of Oldenburg; brothers Alvin, Michael and Gregory, all of Batesville, Anthony and Christopher, both of Indianapolis and three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother Frederick.Visitation is Friday, February 3rd, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, February 4th, at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Summers officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with military gravesite rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183.
