Alberta L. Wilhelm's Obituary
Alberta L. Wilhelm, age 86 of Batesville and formerly of St. Leon, Indiana, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born April 2, 1923 in Connersville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Josephine (Nee: Frey) and John Alig. She worked at Margaret Mary Hospital for 40 years as a nurse’s aide before retiring in 1995. She was also a member of St. Louis Church and the Ladies Society. Alberta was a single mother with a strong character and an equally strong work ethic, working at the hospital until retiring at age 72. She grew up on a farm and developed a love for dogs and flowers at an early age. Through the years she had a number of dogs which became beloved pets and she truly enjoyed working in her flower garden and although she liked irises, she was most proud of her geraniums. Those who knew Alberta will remember her as a graceful, elegant lady who was always smartly dressed whenever and wherever you met her. She dearly loved her granddaughters and great grandchildren and genuinely cherished being with them.Albert is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Joe Horner of Batesville; granddaughters Laura Domingo and her husband Randy of Greensburg, Indiana, Lisa Laker and her husband Matthew of Indianapolis, Indiana and great grandchildren Reid, Garret and Brady Domingo and Addison and Lydia Laker. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Ruth Bischoff.Visitation is Tuesday, March 9th, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Bernard Varghese officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Mary’s School in Greensburg or Nativity Catholic School in Indianapolis.
