Alice M. Cheek's Obituary
Alice M. Cheek, age 87 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Born January 26, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Thelma (Janson) and Charles Strull. She married Kenneth Cheek on November 24, 1955, at St. Bonaventure Church in Cincinnati and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1993.
Alice enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts, cooking, making Christmas cookies but most of all she loved playing bingo.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a heart of gold. As a devout Catholic she watched mass each Sunday. Before closing her eyes at night, she prayed for everyone, people she loved and even those she didn’t know.
She is survived by her son Michael (Holly) Cheek of Versailles, Indiana; daughters Sharon (Jack) Goffena of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Lisa Smith of Batesville; brother Emmitt Strull of Cincinnati; grandchildren Kevin Cheek, Kayla (Matthew) Kruthaupt, Alexander and Jessilynn Smith, all of Batesville, Alex, Michael, and Sarah Goffena, all of Lawrenceburg; great grandchildren Emma Cheek, Lydia Cheek, Adelynn Kruthaupt and Brysen Kruthaupt. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Cheek, daughter Donna Sue Cheek and brothers Charles and Donald Strull.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 22nd, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. The burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
