Aloys M. "Bud" Roell Jr.'s Obituary
Aloys M. “Bud” Roell Jr., age 92 of Lutz, Florida and formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, June 17th, at the Melech Hospice House in Florida. Born November 18, 1913 in Batesville, he is the son of Mary (Nee: Straus) and Aloys Roell Sr. He married Bertha Meyer May 4, 1939 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1964. On November 13, 1965, he married Sara Scott at St. Louis Church in Batesville. After serving in the army during World War II, Bud worked as a project analyst at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 41 years before retiring. He was a 4th Degree Knight of the Batesville Knights of Columbus Council #1461, as well as a member of the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville and Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Land O’Lakes, Florida. He is survived by his wife Sara; sister Evelyn Pendley of Tucson, Arizona; nieces Debrough Thomas, Sandra Liles, Myra Miller, Sue Hellmich Hill, Elaine Cornett, Marilyn Algie and nephews Thomas Hellmich and Huey Benz. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Bertha. Visitation is Wednesday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church and burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research or the American Arthritis Foundation.
