Alvin F. "Butch" Lamppert's Obituary
Alvin F. “Butch” Lamppert, age 84 of Oldenburg, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Born June 29, 1923 in St. Nicholas, Indiana, he is the son of Martha (Nee: Riehle) and Frank Lamppert. He married Luella Laudick November 23, 1950 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg.Butch enjoyed several interests which including watching baseball and basketball. He liked working crossword puzzles and word searches as well. However, his true passion was fishing. This was a passion he indulged in often. Even in recent years when he has restricted to his motorized power chair due to health, he continued to fish regularly. Having polio as a boy, Butch was unable to serve in the military, so during his younger years he farmed. Later he became a pipeline operator for Texas Eastern Gas Company, retiring in 1985 after 37 years. He was a member of Holy Family Church.He is survived by his wife Luella; daughters and son-in-laws Cheryl and Dan Tekulve, Carol and Richard Dobson, Catherine Quick, Cindalee Lamppert, all of Oldenburg; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Trina Lamppert of Oldenburg; brothers Robert of Morris, Joseph of St. Nicholas; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister Virginia Mehlon. Visitation is Tuesday, July 1st, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2nd, at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Margaret Mary Home Health Care or Holy Family Church.
