Alvina C. Herbert, age 81 of Oldenburg, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash. Born May 27, 1933 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Lillian (Nee: Niese) and William Suttmann. She married Maurice Herbert at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg November 24, 1956. He preceded her in death September 29, 1971. Alvina worked as a cook at the Srs. of St. Francis Convent and was a member of Holy Family Church.
Her family described mom as a home body who was an excellent cook and baker. Alvina's chicken and dumplings, banana pudding and cobblers were among their favorites. When it was somebody else's turn to cook, she looked forward to several of the area's church festivals and Oldenburg's Freudenfest. She liked country music, especially Martina McBride and Blake Shelton, watching "The Voice" and was an avid Reds and NASCAR fan. She loved her family and always enjoyed the family get togethers.
