He was as avid card player who didn’t care what the game was although poker and Rook were among his favorites. Fishing was another activity he liked and spent many hours with family members or his friend Carl Kaiser out on the water. Gardening was another favorite pastime he shared with Joanne. He was responsible for obtaining a van for transporting veterans to appointments or the hospital. Family was extremely important to Andy. He kept in constant contact with his siblings and usually spoke to his sister Amanda daily. He was also proud of his grandchildren and liked having them around to tease. His children talked about dad’s joy of cooking and recalled his delicious biscuits made from scratch using lard. On Sunday’s Andy would prepare a large breakfast for the family highlighted by his biscuits.
