Ann E. Montag's Obituary
Ann E. Montag, age 59 of St. Peter’s Indiana, died Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Waters of Batesville. Born January 31, 1950 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Pauline (Nee: Koetter) and Louis Niese. She married Joseph A. Montag December 2, 1972 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Ann was an assembler of electrical components at the Hill-Rom Company for 39 years before retiring in March of 2007. Ann had many varied interests she was passionate about including her faith. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, the St. Peter’s Spirituality Group and a choir member for over 15 years. For quiet time, she liked to work jigsaw puzzles and also crocheted. Many family members have received one of her afghans as a gift over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and was especially proud of her potatoes and strawberries. She loved taking trips, especially on bus tours with her sisters. Among her favorites destinations were Branson Missouri, Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota and recently their visit to Niagara Falls. She was an avid card player regardless of the game and she loved to take long rides on with Joe on his motorcycle.She is survived by her husband Joe, daughter Jo Ann Montag of Cincinnati, Ohio; son Joseph D. Montag of St. Peter’s; mother Pauline Niese of Batesville; sisters Patricia Schrank of Oldenburg, Indiana, Viola Billman of Sunman, Indiana, Lucille Honnert of St. Mary’s, Indiana and brothers Clifford, Virgil and Dale Niese, all of Batesville and James Niese of St. Peter’s. In addition to her father, she is also preceded in death by her son Robert; sister Rose Niese and brother Joseph Niese. Visitation is Monday, March 2nd, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3rd, at St. Peter’s Church in St. Peter’s, with Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Fraternal Order of Eagles' Art Ehrman Cancer Fund.
