Anna E. Dwenger's Obituary
Anna E. Dwenger, age 89 of Osgood, Indiana, died Saturday, May 30, 2010, at her residence. Born February 6, 1921 in Oneida, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Rose (Nee: Bishop) and Walter Woods. She married Waldo Dwenger Sr. and he preceded her in death in October 1979. She was a surgery technician at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville for 40 years before retiring in 1991 and a member of the Red Hatters Club of Batesville.Anna was an energetic person who stayed busy with her many hobbies and interests. Her daughters talked about how “Mom loved to shop. She could go all day. She would still be going strong after we were worn out.” An excellent cook, her family fondly recalls her fried chicken and apple pies. She also liked quilting and working in her flower beds around the house. When she did slow down, that time was usually spent reading romance novels or watching The Food Network or the Game Show Channel on cable T.V. and according to her family was also quite a fan of old westerns. Anna’s favorite time of the year was the Christmas season. The shopping, the lights, the delicious food and time with family were special to her. While aggravating her son Paris seemed to be one of her favorite pastimes, the family agreed that being with her grandkids, great grandkids and the great great grandkids was what she truly loved. She is survived by her daughters Emma Kroner of Sunman, Indiana, Hazel Dwenger of Westport, Indiana; sons Paris Dwenger of Delaware, Indiana, Joe Dwenger of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; sister Edith Pennington of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; brother Melvin Woods of Chilo, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her son Waldo Dwenger Jr.; sisters Thelma Matney, Callie Granger, Hazel Pennington and brother Dallas Woods.Visitation is Thursday, June 3rd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Hamburg, Indiana. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
