Anna L. Holtel's Obituary
Anna L. Holtel, age 89 of Oldenburg, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born March 2, 1925 in Dearborn County Indiana, she is the daughter of Louise (Nee: Boerstler) and Frank Schneider. She married Gilbert Holtel April 22, 1950 at St. Peter’s Church near Brookville, Indiana and he preceded her in death September 28, 1985. She and Gilbert owned Stenger’s Grocery store in Oldenburg for many years and she was a member of Holy Family Church. Annie loved nothing more than being with family and friends where she would greet you with her trademark “What’s new?” She always seemed to stay busy whether that was working at the store, in her vegetable garden or keeping her house clean. When she did relax, she would often get in the car to take a ride, go visit friends, listen to the Reds or turn on one of her favorite game shows or westerns such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Ethel Bessler and brothers Robert, Raymond, Stanley and Edward Schneider.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 25th, from 9 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating and burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Holy Family Capital Improvement Fund.
