Anna Mae Schneider's Obituary
Anna Mae Schneider, age 88 of Oldenburg, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Good Samaritan Western Ridge Hospital in Cincinnati. Born August 14, 1924 in Oldenburg, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Geisting) and John Bedel. She married Wilfred Schneider July 31, 1948 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and he preceded her in death January 3, 2011. She worked in the kitchen for the Srs. of St. Francis Convent 10 years but was a homemaker most of her life and was a member of the Batesville Golden Citizens. For years she and Bill raised a huge garden and Anna Mae would can and freeze what they grew. She was also a good cook and her family remembers her fried chicken and homemade goetta among their favorites. Bill hunted quite a bit and Anna Mae always fixed whatever game he came home with. As a hobby she played guitar and sang. She preferred county songs and would play at local functions and programs for the kids at the schools. For those that remember the Paul Dixon Show, it was a local daytime variety show on WLWT out of Cincinnati hosted by television personality Paul Dixon from 1955 to 1975. His co-hosts were Bonnie Lou and Marian Spelman. One afternoon while attending the show, the staff found out Anna Mae played and sang and she was asked to come up on stage to perform with Bonnie Lou. It was an experience she cherished and never forgot. Her family also remembers her as being nurturing and taking care of others. She is survived by her daughter Carol Ann Schneider of Batesville; sons Stephen of Goshen, Indiana, Stanley of La Porte, Indiana, Andrew of Greensburg; brothers John Bedel of Greensburg, Louis Bedel of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Marie Lamping, Clara Wilhelm, Rita Bischoff and brothers Edmund, Alphonse and Kenneth Bedel. Visitation is Sunday, January 27th, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 3:45 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, January 28th, at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorial to the catholic television network EWTN.
