Arnold F. Batta's Obituary
Arnold F. Batta, age 79 of Batesville, died Sunday, November 8, 2009, at the Chateau of Batesville. Born March 25, 1930 in St. Mary’s, Indiana, he is the son of Elizabeth (Nee: Lithman) and Bernard Batta. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. After the service he worked for Philco in Connersville and Hill-Rom in Batesville from many years as a factory worker. He also owned a lawn mower repair shop.In his younger days, Arnie was an avid flower gardener, proud of his prized roses and raised blackberries as well. He was a devoted golfer and enjoyed the opportunity to take his boat out and go fishing. In later years his health prevented him from continuing these activities, but he never lost his life long passion of putting picture puzzles together. And of course, many will remember Arnie as a regular of the morning coffee klatch at Hardee’s and McDonald’s. He is survived by his sisters Delores Hoffbauer of Harrison, Indiana, Florence Heindrich of Mason, Ohio, Leona Weiler of Sunman, Indiana, Viola Westrich of Noblesville, Indiana, Annabelle Suttmiller of Mason, Ohio; brother Ben Batta of Sunman, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Dorothy Roell and brothers Richard, Howard, Raymond and Clifford Batta. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11th, from 10 a.m. to Noon at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church in St. Peter’s, Indiana. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. Memorials may be made to the Batesville American Legion, St. Louis School Tuition Angels or Oldenburg Academy Tuition Assistance.
