Bernadine M. Brinkman's Obituary
Bernadine M. Brinkman, age 87 of Batesville, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at her residence. Born July 9, 1924 in Morris, Indiana, she is the daughter of Marian (Nee: Wuestefeld) and Frank Huenefeld. She married Annas “Peanut” Brinkman October 5, 1946 at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1987. She spent 40 years as a waitress for the The Ship, Burkhardt’s and Feltz’s. Bernadine interests were wide ranging. She loved to make crafts until her eye sight slowed her down, she crocheted and was an accomplished seamstress who used to make many of her families’ clothes. Although not a gardener she liked flowers, enjoyed working word search puzzles, putting together jig saw puzzles and her favorite T.V. shows were Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Without a Trace and in later years her daughter found out mom was an avid NASCAR fan. An excellent baker, her family remembers her pumpkin bars and chocolate chip cookies. Whenever they stopped, the cookie jar was the first place they headed. In later years she also enjoyed going out to eat and being served after all those years of doing the serving. Her family remembers too, her love for taking rides in the country to “see if they could get lost.” Bernadine is survived by her daughter Bea Frey of West Harrison, Indiana; sisters Helen Strasser of Falmouth, Kentucky, Loretta Wolf of Mason, Ohio, Genarose Merkel of Morris; granddaughter Renea Frey-Dorsey of Cincinnati, Ohio and great grandchildren Maitreya, Aeliana and Branneth. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Marie Herbert.Visitation is Tuesday, January 17th, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 18th, at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris with Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Anthony’s Cemetery Fund or Batesville E.M.S.
