Bernetta M. "Betty" Ollier's Obituary
Bernetta M. “Betty” Ollier, age 94 of Batesville, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born June 22, 1914, in Ripley Co. Indiana, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Harmeyer) and Frank Dierckman. She married Robert “Bugs” Ollier August 23, 1939 at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church in St. Mary’s, Indiana and he preceded her in death September 26, 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Louis Church.Betty’s priorities in life were her family and her faith. Her favorite memories revolve around family and family functions. She was also an immensely devout women who inspired that passion in her children. A young women by the end of the depression, she learned like many of her generation, to live within her means. An important skill that as a wife and mother allowed her to manage a large household on a limited budget. Her money management skills still amaze her children to this day. The family’s favorite memory of mom is Betty’s cooking ability. How on Saturday morning, the house would be filled with the mouth watering aroma of fresh bread, cinnamon rolls and coffee cakes. Later the air would permeate with her fried chicken that often times became a picnic dinner on Sunday. She loved to quilt and do embroidering and dearly missed these activities in later years when her eyesight began to decline due to macular degeneration. She is survived by her daughters Ann Klein of Tucker, Georgia, Audrey Blandford of Greenwood, Indiana, Rita Glassley of Indianapolis, Indiana, Marilyn Distler of Valley Station, Kentucky, Donna Delfendahl of Cincinnati, Ohio, Beth Meyer of Batesville, Sheila Roell of Batesville; sons Gerald of Batesville, Kenneth of Kingman, Indiana, David of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother Emmanuel Dierckman of Richmond, Indiana; 38 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her son Robert; sister Jean Krode and brothers Stanley, Alfred, Lambert, Albert and Victor Dierckman.Visitation is Friday, May 1, 2009, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Macular Degeneration Foundation or St. Louis Church’s Respect Life.
