Bertha P. Patterson's Obituary
Bertha P. Patterson, age 78 of Hamburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born April 28, 1934 in Hamburg, she is the daughter of Alice (Nee: Peters) and Harry Dwenger. She married Robert Patterson September 24, 1955 at St. Anne’s Church in Hamburg. She was a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Church and spent 24 years with Batesville Casket Company as the Executive Secretary before retiring in 1997. Bert’s faith was very important to her and she donated countless hours of her time and talent to the church. She became Director of Religious Education and a CCD Teacher in 1981 and continued with those duties until 1999. In 1985 she added the roles of church secretary and bookkeeper until just recently, when she passed those responsibilities on. Bert liked to read and was a fan of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune but preferred to spend most of her free time with her family, especially her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband Bob; daughter Cindy (Dennis) Lamping; sons Dan, Mike and Bill (Shelly) Patterson, all of Hamburg; sister Rosina Lodge of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Theresa Esslinger, Irene Tepe, Mary Flick; brothers Albert and Irvin Dwenger and grandson Rob Vance.Visitation is Friday, August 31st from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1st, at St. Anne’s Church in Hamburg with Rev. George Nangachiveettil officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Anne’s Cemetery Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
