Carl E. Butt's Obituary
Carl E. Butt, age 98 of Batesville, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at St. Andrew's Health Campus. Born November 19, 1916 in Indianapolis, he is the son of Clara (Nee: Fink) and Edward Butt. He married Rose White on July 14, 1945 in Harrison, Ohio. Carl was a school teacher for 47 years, spending 26 of those with the Batesville School Corporation before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Carl loved being outdoors, whether that meant fishing, squirrel hunting with the boys when they were young, being out in the woods or working in the large garden he put out each year. Other interests included playing tennis, pool, ping pong and watching sports. His family explained that because of his passion for teaching, it didn't seem like work to him. Family and church were important to Carl and was the perfect opportunity to socialize with people. According to the family, he never knew a stranger.Carl is survived by his wife Rose; daughters and son-in-law Carla Lindemann of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Carol and Michael Leeth of Markel, Indiana; sons and daughter-in-law David of Batesville, Alan and JoAnn of Batesville; grandchildren Michael, Brian and Angela Lindemann, Ashley, Erin, Zachary Emily and Nicholas Butt, Christopher, Ryan, Amy and Sarah Leeth and great grandchildren Grant, Abby and Ava Lindemann, Raelynn, Alexis, Elijah and Olivia Butt, Trent Stuart, Zoe and Reagan Bolser and Braylon and Taylor Leeth. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother Kedric. Visitation is Wednesday, July 29th, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30th at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Rev. Jill Kepler-Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the church.
