Carol A. Erne's Obituary
Carol A. Erne, age 71 of Batesville, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born January 27, 1941 in Cincinnati, she is the daughter of Helen (Nee: Boehmer) and Albert Hester. She married Robert Erne June 29, 1963 at St. Aloysius Church in Bridgetown, Ohio. Although a homemaker for much of her life, she taught two years at St. Ignatius in Cincinnati and fifteen years as a substitute teacher for the Batesville School Corporation. Carol was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, the Red Hatters Club, Batesville Historical Society, Friends of the Library and the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary. An avid reader, she preferred books about English history and biographies. Her taste in movies were much the same as anything historical or biographical in nature was on her must see list and her favorite T.V. program was the series Lonesome Dove. Although not a gardener, she loved flowers.She is survived by her husband Bob; sons Ted of Louisville, Kentucky, Matt Sr. and Rob, both of Batesville; mother Helen Hester; sister Arlene Orth; brothers Mike and Mark Hester, all of Cincinnati; grandchildren Matthew Erne Jr., Kamrynn Erne, Courtney Razo and great grandchild Dahlia Erne. In addition to her father, she is also preceded in death by her brother Norb Hester.Visitation is Saturday, December 8th, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris with Rev. Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Batesville Food Pantry or the Ripley County Humane Society.
