Carol J. Goldsmith's Obituary
Carol J. Goldsmith, age 69 of Oldenburg, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Margaret Mary Hospital. Born January 13, 1940 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Carolyn (Nee: Wuestefeld) and August Gindling. She married Elmer Goldsmith April 23, 1960 at St. Nicholas near Sunman, Indiana. She worked for the Kroger’s Pharmacy (formerly Revco’s Pharmacy) as a Technician for 20 years before retiring in 2005 and was a member of Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and the Oldenburg Academy Alumni Association.Although Carol enjoyed many interests, she was most certainly an avid sports fan. She loved to follow Xavier University Basketball, Notre Dame Football and Cincinnati Reds Baseball and attended games often. She liked to golf and in later years, she delighted in watching her grandchildren in the various sports they participated in, especially volleyball. She was very talented at crocheting and cooking and her family fondly recalls her comfort food meals of chicken and dumplings and pot pies. She genuinely enjoyed dancing and when she was younger, she and her brother Dick won several dance contests. Carol firmly believed in the Right to Life and always kept up with what was going on in the political world as well. A member of the Batesville Red Hats, each month she would join the other ladies for fun, food and entertainment. She is survived by her husband Elmer; daughters Jill Reidy of Batesville, Paula Fledderman of Batesville; sons Tom of Oldenburg, Mark of Oldenburg, Dan of Batesville; sisters Doris Walke of Batesville, Mary Grote of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Roseann Prickel of Sanford, Florida; brothers Edward Gindling of Sunman, Indiana, Richard of Cincinnati, Ohio and 13 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.Visitation is Sunday, March 15th, from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 1 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, March 16th, at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Oldenburg Academy or the Holy Family Onion Dome Restoration.
