Charles E. Baker's Obituary
Charles E. “Butch” Baker, age 70 of Batesville, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born October 14, 1937 in Laurel, Indiana, he is the son of Hazel (Nee: Wilson) and Millard Baker. He married Donna Schmidt December 29, 1961 in Brookville, Indiana.Butch was an army veteran and worked for D & M Industries in Connersville, Indiana for 7 years, was an owner/operator over the road truck driver for 10 years and former owner of Chuck’s Hideaway in Batesville. His true passion was fishing. He also enjoyed deer hunting, boating, camping, riding quads and being able to fix anything mechanical, he liked helping others when something would break down.He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Lori Baker Jewell of Batesville; sons Tracy Baker of Harrison, Ohio, Scott Lyle of Metamora, Indiana; sisters Mabel Carey of Connersville, Sue Ison, Mary Ison, Dolly Saterfield, all of Metamora, Paula Grant of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers Walter “Bud” Baker of Connersville, Gerald “Dick” Baker of Metamora, Harley “Skip” Baker, David “Jake” Baker, both of Connersville, John Baker of Greenfield, Indiana, Greg Baker of Metamora and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Michelle Baker; and sisters Geraldine “Micki” Pense and Era Irene Baker.Visitation is Wednesday, February 13th, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in Cupps Chapel Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice or to the family.
