Charles T. Gibson, age 97 of Batesville, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Decatur County Hospital. Born August 8, 1917 in Batesville, he is the son of Murial (Nee: Thomas) and Elmer Gibson. He served in the Navy during World War II. After the service Charlie spent 25 years as a sales representative for Sinclair Refinery and Atlantic Richfield and 11 years as a Trust Officer at Bank One/J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. He married Mildred Shane May 6, 1941 and she preceded him in death February 10, 1990. On September 20, 1997 he married Floreen Hoerst Steinfort and she preceded him in death March 12, 2006. Charlie was an avid small game hunter and fly fisherman, which he passed on to his boys. They reminisced how great it was until they lost their dad..............to golf. Once he started playing golf, the boys joked "We never saw him again." He experienced golfers heaven when he recorded a hole in one during a round in Florida. In his younger years, he was a regular at the Eagles dance parties. Charlie was a devoted fan of the Lawrence Welk Show, I.U. basketball and the Colts. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and apparently had a bit of sweet tooth finding it hard to pass up cookies, cakes or pies.
He is survived by daughters Pam Meyer of Columbus, Indiana, Charla Gindling of Greensburg, Indiana; sons Brent Gibson of Batesville, Gregg Gibson of Greenfield, Indiana; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wives and parents, he is also preceded in death by his infant son Frederick and sister Wanda Keillor.
