Clara M. Tekulve's Obituary
Clara M. Tekulve, age 95 of Oldenburg, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born July 10, 1913 in Oldenburg, she is the daughter of Jane (Nee: Connelly) and Joseph Holtel. She married Arnold Tekulve September 26, 1942, at Holy Family Church and preceded her in death on March 30, 1977. Clara owned and operated Clara’s Beauty Shop for 45 years before retiring. Although her hobbies were few, she was very active with in them. Clara absolutely loved to play bingo. Three times a week she would play at St. Louis Church, St. Anthony’s Church and at the Eagles. Her family teased her that she kept St. Louis going through the years. She was also an avid card player. The last member of the Mission Card Club, they would gather for many spirited games of “500” or “7up”. Clara also enjoyed sitting in on a good game of poker. In later years, she would visit the River Boats occasionally and many will remember seeing her on her porch swing during the warm months.She is survived by sons Thomas of Batesville, Daniel and Michael, both of Oldenburg; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Rosemary Borseleth, Janie Kerker, Kathleen Hatrup and brothers Ambrose, Gilbert, Marcellus and Alphonse Holtel.Visitation is Monday, March 9th, from 9-11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Holy Family Religious Education Fund.
