Cletus P. Walsman's Obituary
Cletus P. Walsman, age 74 of Batesville, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at his home. Born January 13, 1934 in Ripley County Indiana, he is the son of Blanche (Nee: Carter) and Alfred Walsman. He married Maxine Tekulve May 4, 1957 at St. Louis Church in Batesville.Clete was a tool and die maker for G.E., Delta Faucet and Custom Conveyor for 45 years before retiring in 1998. He served in the Army as Sergeant of the 13th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War and earned a bronze star as well as his unit receiving a Presidential Citation for meritorious service. Clete was a member of St. Louis Church and a former member of the Batesville and Osgood American Legions and the Batesville V.F.W. He was an avid Indiana University fan and in younger years enjoyed playing baseball. He also enjoyed fishing as well as rabbit and squirrel hunting. Being a tool and die maker, Clete loved to tinker in his workshop and continued to do so even after retiring.He is survived by his wife Maxine, daughters and son-in-laws Tami and Bill Peters, Tina and Terry Duncan, Teresa and Rich Fitzpatrick, all of Batesville, Tonya and Darin Fledderman of Hamburg, Indiana; sons and daughter-in-laws Tim and Shelly Walsman of Greensburg, Indiana, Toby and Carin Walsman of Batesville; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.Visitation is Wednesday, January 30th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, January 31st, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Bernard Varghese officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
