Cynthia D. "Cindy" Gartenman's Obituary
Cynthia D. “Cindy” Gartenman, age 66 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born April 21, 1958, in Batesville, she is the daughter of David and Janice (Nee: Steinmetz) Wagner, Sr. Cindy married Ivan Gartenman, Jr. on October 8, 1977, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville. She was a receptionist at Dr Garcia’s Dental Office, a member of St. Louis Church, and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie #1130.
Cindy loved being around her children, nieces/nephews, grandchildren and great nieces/nephews, whether just hanging out or watching them play sports. She was proud of them and would let you know the same. When she wasn’t reading or playing word games you could find her with her husband, Ivan and siblings. They spent a lot of time at the family “campground” over the years and at the Eagles enjoying pull tabs. Cindy and Ivan were approaching their 47th year of marriage. They were a model of true love. Her greatest attributes she got from her father; she was definitely a chip off the old block. But we can rest easy knowing she is with him now.
She is survived by her husband Ivan of Batesville; son B.J. (Brianne) Gartenman of Fishers, Indiana and daughter Amber (Jeff) Bedel of Osgood, Indiana; mother Janice Wagner of Batesville; grandchildren Kaitlynn Bedel, Kellsie Bedel, Kaden Gartenman, and Kendell Gartenman; brother David (Connie) Wagner, Jr. and sisters Becky (Terry) Weberding, Pam (Scott) Weisenbach, and Melody (Ron) Jobst, all of Batesville; several nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her father David Wagner, Sr.
Visitation is Monday, September 23rd, from 4 – 7 p.m., at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24th, at St. Louis Church in Batesville, with Fr. Stan Pondo officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
