Daniel T. Federle's Obituary
Daniel T. Federle, age 64 of Fort Wayne, Indiana and formerly of Batesville, died Sunday, September 8, 2013. Born June 10, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, he is the son of Agnes (Nee: Walke) and Edwin Federle. Although wheel chair bound, Dan never allowed that to slow him down. He enjoyed numerous activities in addition to receiving several commendations for helping others with disabilities and fostering the improvement of programs available for the disabled. Having a passion for music, he definitely preferred oldies and classic rock with the Beatles being his favorite group. His sister indicated he was an avid Reds and Bengals fan and followed them faithfully. She also talked about Dan’s love of animals, especially dogs and his fondness of pizza and how he could eat it for days on end without tiring of it. Another hobby included being a ham radio operator, where he was a regular on the airwaves with friends and contacts from near and far. A follower of the show “Survivor”, he was able to meet and have his picture taken with Rupert, the 8th place finisher from the seventh season of the show, who has gone on to become the most famous of all the contestants over its thirteen year run in the U.S.Dan is survived by his sister Dorothy (Dottie) Federle and close family friend Marjorie Snider, both of Fort Wayne and friends from the staff at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and its’ residents who befriended him the three years he resided there. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his dear friend Janelle Jones.The family will receive friends from 9 – 10 a.m. Friday, September 13th at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating and burial in St. Louis Cemetery. The family requests memorials to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church’s St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center’s Activity Fund.
