Darlene K. Riehle's Obituary
Darlene K. Riehle, age 56 of Sunman, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at her residence. Born April 9, 1955 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Clara (Nee: Hansen) and Lonzo Reed. She married Norbert Riehle April 12, 1975 at St. Nicholas Church near Sunman. Darlene was a teacher’s aide for special education students 25 years at Sunman Elementary before retiring in 2010.A people person, Darlene enjoyed being with friends and family and doted on her grandson Jase. Several of her interests took her outdoors. She loved to bike. She and Norb were regularly seen biking together on their recumbent bicycles. In addition to cycling, she also liked hiking and taking walks. Though not interested in mowing, she’d wait until Norb was finished and hop on their John Deere rider and cruise around the yard while looking busy. Her family indicated mom was a fantastic baker and cook. Her Black Magic cake was a special treat eagerly anticipated at birthdays and her roast beef, mashed potatoes and homemade yeast rolls were always a favorite meal for the family. Quiet time was spent doing needle point, reading or watching Oprah.Darlene is survived by her husband Norb; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Matthew Sutton of The Woodlands, Texas; son Brian Riehle of Chicago, Illinois; mother Clara Eggen of Charlestown, Indiana; sisters Diana Reed of Charlestown, Indiana, Donna Overstreet of Louisville, Kentucky, Della Chapman of Cincinnati, Debra Wiggers of Charlestown, Indiana, Denise Bostic of Charleston, West Virginia; brothers David Reed of St. Albans, West Virginia, Daniel Reed of Portland, Oregon, Dennis Reed of Napoleon, Indiana, Donald Reed of Sellersburg, Indiana, Dale Reed of Big Bear Creek, West Virginia, Darrell Reed of Louisville, Kentucky, Doug Reed of Phoenix, Arizona and two grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father.Visitation is Tuesday, May 17th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18th, at the funeral home with Darlene’s sister Rev. Denise Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery at Sunman. The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research
