David L. Luke Sr.'s Obituary
David L. Luke Sr., age 61 of Batesville, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at his residence. Born April 2, 1956 in Batesville, he is the son of Shelby Jean (Nee: Washnock) and Charles Luke. He married Kathy Rogers June 21, 1980 in Aurora, Indiana. A truck driver for nearly 20 years, he worked for Premier Energy.
Spending time with his family was David’s passion. He also liked raising a garden and helping Kathy can the excess. His family described him as kind of a Colts and Bengals fan and someone who liked to tinker. If Kathy needed something for around the house he would often build it or make it for her.
He is survived by his wife Kathy; daughters Sonja (Raymond) Nowatzke of Alta, Iowa, Andrea (Matthew) Damon of Cincinnati, Ohio; son David (Lynn) Luke Jr. of Fairfield, Ohio; mother Jean Luke of Dillsboro, Indiana; sisters Penny Luke of Aurora, Indiana, Bev Craig of Harrison, Ohio and seven grandchildren. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his sister Sue and brother Billy.
David’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Friday, February 16th at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. David Guilfoyle officiating. The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
