David Thompson Jr.'s Obituary
David Thompson Jr., age 80 of Batesville, died Saturday, January 21, 2005, at The Waters of Batesville. Born August 14, 1925 in Ashland, Kentucky, he is the son of Ethel (Nee: Erwin) and David Thompson Sr. He married Verta Frost in January of 1950 and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2000.David served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Ripley Co. V.F.W. Post #3183 of Batesville. During his working years, he was a landlord, owning various rental properties as well as working at Hillenbrand Industries and farming.He is survived by his daughter Carol Bessler of Batesville; sons Andrew of Knoxville, Tennessee, Martin of Indianapolis; sister Mary Dixon of Ashland, Kentucky and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife Verta, he is preceded in death by his sister Lena Allen and two grandchildren.Visitation is Tuesday, January 24th, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Burial will be at Stumpke's Corner. Memorials may be made to Batesville E.M.S. 10.
