To The Baker Family ... It has been so many years since I have seen your mom. She was my "Big Sis" at ICA (now Oldenburg Academy)when I was an incoming Freshman. Her parents, Dorothy and Eddie Schmidt were wonderful people & "friends" of my parents, Des and Fritz Kellerman for many years. In fact, Donna's mom Dorothy, worked for my dad in his Dot Food Store (now, the Book Shelf) for several years in the 1950's as a cashier. I have very fond memories of years long ago. Donna will be missed by many friends. But, knowing she has gone to an eternal meeting with her husband and parents will be a "beautiful gathering of souls". My Sincerest Sympathy to you all ...
Dear Baker Family, I am so sorry to learn of the passing of such a wonderful woman. I spent a few years in Batesville in the late 80's and Chuck's Hideaway quickly became my favorite hangout, not for the music and cold beer, but for the company of the quick witted, spunky, give you a run for your money Donna and her gruff, stuborn, big ol' Teddy bear of a husband Chuck. They treated me like family, always welcoming me with open arms and threatening a smack upside the head if I got out of line. I have been gone from Batesville for many years, but some of my fondest memories were formed sittin' on an old barstool listening to hours of stories about Chuck and Donna in their "hey days". My deepest, heartfelt sympathy to Lori, Bubba, Scott and their families during this difficult time. I'll be listening to some Patsy Cline and finding comfort in knowing Chuck and Donna are together again.
We are sorry for your loss. Your family are in our prayers. I will miss Donna sitting on her porch waiving as I drive by.
