Doris M. Doll's Obituary
Doris M. Doll, age 78 of Batesville, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born February 8, 1934 in Franklin County Indiana, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Brandes) and Valentine Simmermeyer. She married Alois Doll April 28, 1956 at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church in St. Mary’s, Indiana. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony’s Church, the St. Anne’s Ladies Sodality, the Morris Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a past president of the National Coalition of Catholic Women. Doris had many interests that kept her busy. An avid card player, she liked to play 500. She also did quite a bit of cross stitching, crocheting and quilting. She enjoyed working in her flowers beds and was proud of the roses she raised in front of the house. Her family talked about what an excellent baker she was and how good her lemon meringue pie, fudge and cookies were. They did however tease her about her cooking. “If she made a batch of chili, she made enough that we’d eat if for five days straight.” Doris liked working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, watching her birds from the kitchen and soap operas. She didn’t like watching sports, flying or boating. Having her grandchildren and great grandchildren around was something she treasured, but there seems to be some debate among the kids as to who was the favorite child. She is survived by her husband Alois; daughters and son-in-laws Deborah and Dave (Bluegill) Higham of Morris, Karen and Gary Bedel of Enochsburg; sons and daughter-in-laws Jerome (Jake) and Carolyn Doll of St. Mary’s, Randall and Donna Doll of Sunman, Dan and Mary Lou Doll of Sunman, David (Mick) Doll of St. Mary’s, Kurt and Ramona Doll, Alan and Ce Ce Doll, Eric and Gina Doll, all of Sunman; sisters Jackie Armbruster of Aurora, Indiana, Melly Allgeier of Greensburg, Indiana, Rosie Weisenbach of Morris, Martha Simmermeyer of St. Mary’s, Barb Lecher of St. Mary’s; brother Frank Simmermeyer of St. Mary’s; daughter-in-law Wanda Alig; thirty two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sons Tim and Charles; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.Visitation is Friday, January 25th, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26th at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
