Dorothy C. Giesting, age 83 of Batesville, Indiana, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Hospitality Hall. Born November 13, 1923 in St. Peter’s, Indiana, she is the daughter of Clara (Nee: Scherger) and Charles Back. She married Leonard Giesting on November 18, 1950 at St. Peter’s Church and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2003.Dot was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Miraculous Medal Society. Although she was a homemaker for much of her life and helped on the farm, she worked as a cook in Cincinnati for 10 years and 3 years in Batesville at Margaret Mary Hospital.She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Wolff of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Marjorie Baker of Tucson, Arizona; sons Lee Giesting of Batesville, Charles Giesting of Waldron, Indiana; sister Marlene Hoog of St. Leon, Indiana; brothers Albert Back of New Alsace. Indiana, John Back of Brookville, Indiana, Paul Back of St. Peter’s, Harold Back of Brookville, Victor Back of Sunman, Indiana, David Back of Cedar Grove, Indiana, Charles Back of Hamilton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Paula Turk; sisters Marjorie Lehane, Virginia Huff and brothers Jerome and Clarence Back.Visitation is Friday, September 14th, from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg, Indiana. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family request memorials to the Oldenburg First Responders.
