Dorothy "Jeannie" Nobbe's Obituary
Dorothy "Jeannie" Nobbe, age 63 of Batesville, died Thursday, May 14, 2015 at The Waters of Batesville. Born March 30, 1952 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Ida (Nee: Lecher) and Anthony Nobbe. She worked as a seamstress for Batesville Casket Company 44 years before retiring earlier this year.Her family described her as a homebody who truly loved spending time with family. Jeannie was an excellent baker. She delighted in baking each sibling, niece and nephew's favorite treat for them on their birthday. A talented seamstress, for years she made many of her own clothes in addition to brides' maid's dresses and formal gowns for others. Her family marveled that she would come home at night and want to sew after sewing all day at work. Jeannie also had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens.She is survived by her mother Ida of Batesville; sisters Anita Schoettmer of Greensburg, Rita Brebberman of Batesville; brother Norb Nobbe of Batesville as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.Visitation is Monday, May 18th, from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Cancer Center formerly known as the Hansen Center.
