Edna L. Bedel's Obituary
Edna L. Bedel, age 87 of Batesville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born November 23, 1920 in Oldenburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Margaret (Nee: Pflum) and Frank Dickman. She married Wilfred Bedel June 22, 1946 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. Edna was secretary for the Batesville Chamber of Commerce for 32 years before retiring and a member of St. Louis Church; the St. Louis Ladies Society; Daughters of Isabella and Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary. Edna was also actively involved in the Phi Beta Psi Sorority, becoming a 50 year member several years ago and more recently, a life member. She was an avid reader and enjoyed theater and an occasional glass of red wine. Travel was another of her joys, having traveled to Europe on several occasions. Among her favorite destinations were London and Germany. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Greg and Chris Bedel of Cincinnati; Eric and Elaine Bedel of Indianapolis, Phil and Karen Bedel of Phoenix; sister Mary K. Hegwood of Batesville; grandchildren Travis and his wife Angel, Jeff and his wife Christa, Adam, Evan, and Kalli Bedel, Tracy Redmond and her husband Neal, Traci Marie Weston and great grandchildren Will, Alec and Wyat Bedel and Tera and Ian Redmond. In addition to her husband and parents; she is also preceded in death by sisters Martha Winsor; Ethel Marie Dickman and brothers Frank, Kenneth and Paul Dickman. Visitation is Saturday, February 2nd, from 9-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with prayer services conducted by the Phi Beta Psi Sorority and Daughters of Isabella at 9 a.m. and Funeral services follow at noon at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stephen Akange and Rev. Robert Sims officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
