Edna M. Enneking's Obituary
Edna M. Enneking, age 90 of Batesville, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born September 21, 1922 in Franklin County Indiana, she is the daughter of Mary (Nee: Ronnebaum) and Henry Flaspohler Jr. She married Alphonse Enneking May 12, 1942 at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church in St. Mary’s and he preceded her in death January 1, 1979. Edna worked as an assembler at Hill-Rom 20 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Louis Church, the Batesville Eagles Aerie #1130, the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 Ladies Auxiliary and was an Associate Member of the Srs. of St. Francis Convent. Faith was important to Edna and in addition to daily prayer and a long standing prayer group member, several of her interests were church and prayer related. She loved to dance and would attend them often at the Eagles Club and throughout the Batesville area. While she didn’t really like to cook, her family said she made the best cookies. Edna also was an avid reader who enjoyed novels and kept up on politics as well. A staunch Democrat according to her family, you might be on the receiving end of “the look” if she disagreed with you. In later years she began going on bus tours traveling to and visiting many interesting destinations. Family, though, was her true passion. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and adored having them around. Up until recently, she was still babysitting for some of the great grandchildren. Edna is survived by her daughters Helen Jean Kramer of Greensburg, Patti Weberding of Batesville, Donna Kraus of Sunman, Marilyn Weberding of Batesville; sons Daniel of Naples, Florida, Ronald of Renton, Washington, Richard of Batesville, James of Bluffton, Ohio; 25 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Helen Flaspohler, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.Visitation is Friday, April 12th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Randy Summers officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Elizabeth Enneking Scholarship Fund or St. Louis School.
