Eleanor F. Nordmeyer's Obituary
Eleanor F. Nordmeyer, age 93 of Morris, Indiana, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at her residence. Born November 8, 1914 in Batesville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Anna (Poppel) and Charles Brum. She married John Nordmeyer May 12, 1937 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony’s Church, the St. Anne’s Ladies Sodality, the Daughters of Isabella and the Knights of St. John’s Ladies Auxiliary. She also had many hobbies and interests. Until recently when her health wouldn’t permit, Eleanor was an avid reader. She also made beautiful quilts for family and charitable events and not only loved to travel, but was a world traveler, enjoying fascinating trips to Hawaii, Portugal, Jerusalem, Australia and her favorite destination of Germany. Her grandchildren visited her cookie jar often, knowing they’d find her delicious chocolate chip, peanut butter or oatmeal cookies for the taking. Her children remember their mom as always willing to try new experiences, such as that first motorcycle ride or going up in that four passenger plane with a newly licensed pilot at the controls. She is survived by her husband John; daughter Mary Beth Brunsman of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons Kenneth of Terre Haute, Indiana, Clifford of Batesville, Paul of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Charles of Johnstown, Ohio, Michael of Batesville, James of Toledo, Ohio; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Waechter, Alma Tenbrink; brothers Rev. Emil (O.F.M.), John, August, Henry and Charles Brum and granddaughters Joan and Rene Nordmeyer. Visitation is Sunday, September 21st, from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 22nd, at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris, with Rev. Paschal Nduka officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Gibault Home or Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
