Ellis Peters' Obituary
Ellis Peters, age 89 of Batesville, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born March 11, 1923 in Booneville, Kentucky, he is the son of Nellie (Nee: Sizemore) and John Peters. He married Naomi Grow July 1, 1944 St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Crossroads in Batesville. He was a foreman for National Lead of Ohio, retiring after 32 years and a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church and the Quarter Horse Association.Typical for his generation, Ellis was a good Christian man who worked hard and provided for his family. Time spent with family was important to him especially when it included the grandchildren and great grandchildren. His other great passion was animals, big and small. He was particularly fond of horses and specifically quarter horses. That may explain his love westerns, “Little House on the Prairie”, “The Walton’s”, “Andy Griffith” and “The Daniel Boone Show”. Ellis also enjoyed trading used cars and the give and take of making the deal.He is survived by his wife Naomi; daughters Vickie Smith of Columbus, Indiana, Connie Schebler of Batesville, Judith Newman of West Harrison, Indiana, Jacqueline Peters of New Point; Indiana, son Rick Peters of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Peters and brothers Fred and Charlie Peters. Visitation is Tuesday, May 1st, from 9-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at the Batesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Dimick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Ripley County Humane Society, People Assisting Animals in Need, Ripley County 4-H or Margaret Mary Hospital.
