Eugene J. "Toolie" Dickman's Obituary
Eugene J. “Toolie” Dickman, age 77 of Batesville, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born March 30, 1934 in Franklin County Indiana, he is the son of Catherine (Nee: Rahe) and Herman Dickman. He served in the army during the Korean War and after the service spent 20 years as foreman for the Philco Company in Connersville and worked construction the last 15 years before retiring. Toolie was an avid Kentucky basketball fan although his brothers tried hard to convert him into becoming an IU fan. He was a golf junkie as well as a league bowler for many years. Toolie loved to go for rides and most will remember seeing him driving around town daily. A fanatic for McDonald’s coffee, his brothers joked that when he opened his truck door, a McDonald’s coffee cup would usually roll out. Toolie was a member of St. Louis Church.He is survived by sisters Sylvia Fuentes and Shirley Suttmann, both of Batesville; brothers Richard of Batesville, Louis of Napoleon, Alvin of Batesville and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation is Monday, February 6th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 7th at St. Louis Church with Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School or the St. Louis Cemetery Fund.
