Florence A. Kreuzman's Obituary
Florence A. Kreuzman, age 84 of Batesville, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born March 7, 1927 in Franklin County Indiana, she is the daughter of Flora (Nee: Erbacher) and Joseph Wissel. She married John Kreuzman December 27, 1952 at St. Mary’s Church in Rushville, Indiana and he preceded her in death June 2, 1958. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and the Knights of St. John’s Ladies Auxiliary. Florence graduated from the St. Elizabeth College of Nursing at Covington, Kentucky in 1948. In 1949 she began a 43 year career as a Registered Nurse for Margaret Mary Hospital before retiring in 1992. After all these years, her children still have people tell them “Your mom helped delivered my baby.” In her younger years she enjoyed working in her flower garden and was an avid card player. She preferred “500” and through the years belonged to card clubs and several regular card parties in the area. She also crocheted, worked the crossword puzzle in the paper and liked watching T.V. Among her favorite shows were All in the Family, Andy Griffith and she was huge fan of the Price is Right. Any movie with Clint Eastwood in it was also a must watch. According to her children, mom was an excellent cook and baker. While her buttermilk cake was delicious, it was her fried chicken they all loved. Thankfully, Sunday night was chicken night, so it was a weekly treat.Florence is survived by her daughter Carol Barnhorst of Greensburg; sons Sam and Bob Kreuzman, both of Batesville; brother Paul Wissel of Oldenburg; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Rose McHugh, Mary Kurtz, Rita Meyer and brothers Albert, Herman and Carl Wissel. Visitation is Friday, March 2nd, from 9-11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating and burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
