George R. Fields' Obituary
George R. Fields, age 72 of Oldenburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at his residence. Born December 28, 1933 in Newport, Kentucky, he is the son of Georgia (Nee: Combs) and John D. Fields. He married Patricia Lamping on February 7, 1959 at the Holy Family Church in Oldenburg, and she preceded him in death on November 26, 1996.George was a Set-up Engineer at Ford Aerospace for 41 years, before retiring on April 30, 1993. He was a member of the Holy Family Church and served in the Army during the Korean War.He is survived by his daughters Mary Beth Kerker, JoAnn Prickel and Terri Schoetmer, all of Oldenburg, son John Fields of Oldenburg; sisters Eva Schoettelkotte of Oldenburg and Nancy Hall of Connersville, Indiana; brother Jim Fields of Rhinelander, Wisconsin and 10 grandchildren. In addition to his wife Patricia and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Fields.Visitation is Saturday, August 26th, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at noon, with Rev. Rock Travnikar, O.F.M. officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family request memorials to the Area 9 Council on Aging or to the Eagle Fire Department.
