Gerald H. Fasbinder's Obituary
Gerald H. Fasbinder, age 73 of Batesville, Indiana, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born October 14, 1934 in Oldenburg, Indiana, he is the son of Rose (Nee: Brockman) and William Fasbinder. He married Marcia Fehlinger December 26, 1955, at St. Louis Church. Jerry was inventory controller at Batesville Casket Company for 47 years, retiring in 2000. The last five years, he was a driver for Marilyn’s Country Bouquet. He was an avid baseball fan and after high school continued to play ball for 20 years in the Tri-County Baseball League. Jerry served on the Batesville City Council from 1972 to 1992, during which time he also held a position on the Park Board, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1461 and former Grand Knight, a member of the St. Louis Choir for over 50 years and Batesville Bulldogs Booster. He is survived by his wife Marcia; daughters Paula Volz of Sunman, Indiana, Sondra Prickel, Patti Borgman and Suzanne Westerfeld, all of Batesville; sons Mark of Indianapolis, Indiana, Scott of Batesville, Dan of Jacksonville, Florida; 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his step-father Edward Dwenger.Visitation is Friday, October 26th, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Saturday, October 27th, at St. Louis Church, with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Louis School or Batesville E.M.S. 10.
