Gilbert J. Enneking's Obituary
Gilbert J. Enneking, age 82 of Oldenburg, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born March 14, 1926 in Franklin County Indiana, he is the son of Christina (Nee: Handorf) and William Enneking Sr. He married Rita Simmermeyer June 18, 1949 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg.Gib was a salesman for the Moorman Manufacturing Company 35 years before retiring in 1985. He had many hobbies and activities he enjoyed but probably none more than being with young people and sports. He coached Little League, Girls Softball and the CYO League. He also loved his grandchildren and didn’t miss a ball game, a play or any of their other activities. He also enjoyed playing cards, cutting his grass, taking care of his hummingbirds and flower gardening. His family would tease him about fixing things instead of throwing them away and his habit of having four of those “special chocolate chip cookies” after each meal. He is survived by his wife Rita; daughters Jane Kramer of Oldenburg, Nancy Huey of Cincinnati, Ohio, Vicki Huffman of Sellersburg, Indiana; sons Leon of Oldenburg, Tom of Angola, Indiana; sister Luella Britch; brother William Enneking Jr., both of Cincinnati; 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Romilda Pulskamp, Rita Volz and brother Robert Enneking.Visitation is Friday, August 8th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday, August 9th, at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Holy Family Religious Education Fund or the Holy Family Cemetery Fund.
