Helen M. Wettering's Obituary
Helen M. Wettering, age 85 of Batesville, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. Born February 20, 1929 in Ripley County Indiana, she is the daughter of Teresa (Nee: Riehle) and Martin Prickel. She married Leo "BZ" Wettering November 16, 1957 at St. Anthony's Church in Morris. She was a member of the Batesville V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, St. Louis Church and spent 20 years working in housekeeping for Hill-Rom and the Sherman House in addition to working in the kitchen at St. Louis School for 15 years.
Helen was an good cook and an excellent baker, known for her delicious cookies, cakes and pies. She liked to quilting and crocheting as well. She enjoyed entertaining and especially liked to dote on her nieces and nephews. While they lived on the farm Helen and BZ would raise a large garden each year.
She is survived by her husband BZ; sister Mary Ann Siefert of Batesville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Leonard Prickel. Visitation is Wednesday, May 28th, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at St. Louis Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Geis officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana.
