James H. Morgan's Obituary
James H. Morgan, age 76 of Batesville, Indiana and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at his residence. Born August 9, 1934 in Cleves, Ohio, he is the son of Florence (Nee: Holzhause) and Robert Morgan. He married Mary Lou Pierce September 30, 1961 in Cincinnati and was a chemistry and biology teacher at Norwood High School for 35 years.Jim loved the outdoors. Many of his hobbies and interests involved being outdoors. In his younger years he did quite a bit of rabbit hunting. In later years he golfed and played tennis, although according to Mary Lou, “played” might be a bit of stretch. “Worked at it” was probably a better description. Without a doubt, his favorite pastime was fishing. While fishing trips have taken him too many parts of the country, his favorite destination was Canada with his brother Bob for Walleye. When Jim and Mary Lou originally purchased their acreage outside of Batesville, it was a recreational retreat that provided the perfect setting for large gatherings with their friends where they would roast a hog or a side of beef. It affectionately became known as “the farm” and Jim loved it. They found themselves spending more and more time at the farm and eventually decided to move. Jim was a talented do-it-yourselfer and over the years he transformed the rustic cabin that came with the acreage into a beautiful, modern home. He used timber from the property for new stairs, railings, flooring and cabinets. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou; sisters Sandy and Patricia, both of Cincinnati and brothers Bob of Morrow, Ohio, Bill of Harrison, Ohio and Richard of Cincinnati. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Friday, January 21st, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 22nd, at Arlington Cemetery in Cincinnati. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary in Batesville.
