Jerome M. "Jerry" Glaub's Obituary
Jerome M. “Jerry” Glaub, age 66 of St. Mary’s, died Friday, May 22, 2015 at his home. Born August 10, 1948 in Batesville, he is the son of Bertha (Nee: Wilhelm) and John Glaub Sr. He married Barbara Laker July 10, 1971 at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church. Jerry served in the army during the Vietnam War. After the service he became a truck driver for Hill-Rom, retiring in 2013 after 37 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Rock Church, the Tri-County Conservation Club, the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Batesville Knights of Columbus Council #1461.
Jerry loved the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and fishing for Striper Bass. He also liked trap shooting. An accomplished wood worker, he could make anything from bowls to furniture. According to his family, Jerry delighted in telling jokes and making people laugh. Even in the last few weeks, he kept his sense of humor and would have his nurses in stitches. His family also indicated he was a huge NASCAR fan, rooting for Dale Jr., had a bit of a sweet tooth and liked watching Pawn Stars and Duck Dynasty.
Jerry is survived by his wife Barb; sons Mike of Brookville, Brent of Batesville; sister Delores Litzinger of Morris and brothers James of Morris, Joseph of Guilford, Julius of Batesville, Martin of Morris, Robert of Sunman and John Jr. of St. Mary’s. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son Mark.
Visitation is Tuesday, May 26th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27th, at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church with Rev. Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to St. Mary’s of the Rock Preservation Fund or the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice.
